On January 15th, we went on a log cabin-buying
trip to the The cabin arrived on a semi truck the next Friday, and we were assembling it with glee that Saturday morning. I was amazed at how well the logs stacked back up again, and how sturdy the structure is, even with no hardware connecting the logs. Assembling an antique cabin is just like “ A fork lift turned out to be a must. You’ve got to admire the pioneers that built these things with only hand tools. As part of our trip to North Carolina, we stayed at local B&B’s that had log cabins converted out of tobacco barns like the one that we purchased. We took lots of pictures and asked lots of questions. We completed the log cabin six weeks after the logs arrived on our property, just in time for our first guests. The log cabin is tucked away in our woods, with nice views of far-away rolling hills. It has a kitchen, a loft for sleeping, and yes, even indoor plumbing. The cabin is far enough into the trees to be hidden from the rest of Scenic Hill, providing a nice private and romantic getaway. It’s ready for your visit! CLICK HERE to see the finished creation.
